External Hard Drive Data Recovery
Seagate produces a popular line of external
hard drives under the FreeAgent banner. In addtion to their external
hard drives, we also specialize in recovering data from both desktop and
laptop Seagate
hard drives.
A common problem with external Seagate drives is spindle seizure due
to the drive being bumped, jolted, or dropped. The spindle shafts on these
drives are extremely fragile and most physical failures we see involve
spindle seizures.
Another common problem is voltage overload. A drive will either receive
a surge, or the user accidentally plugs in the wrong power adaptor. In
all of these cases we will need to physically repair the drive before
the recovery process can be completed. We have the tools and expertise

Seagate Technology was founded by Alan Shugart (back from a sabbatical
after getting pushed out of Shugart Associates) and Finis Conner; their
first product (released in 1980) was the ST-506, the first hard drive
to fit the 5.25" form factor of the (by then famous) Shugart "mini-floppy"
drive. The drive was a hit, and was later released in a 10-megabyte version,
the ST-412. On December 21st 2005, Seagate confirmed the acquisition of
rival HDD firm Maxtor.
